🍂 Your Skin’s Fall Reset: Adjusting Your Routine for the Season

2 min read

As the seasons change, so does your skin. That transition from warm, humid summer days to cooler, drier fall weather can leave your skin feeling a little different than it did just a few weeks ago.

You may notice more dryness, tightness, sensitivity, dullness, or even changes in breakouts. Your skin isn’t necessarily “acting up” ... it’s adjusting to a whole new environment!

Why Your Skin Routine May Need a Refresh

During the summer months, humidity, heat, sweat, and increased sun exposure can influence how your skin behaves. As we move into fall, cooler temperatures and lower humidity can decrease moisture in the air, which can contribute to increased water loss from the skin.

That means the lightweight routine that worked beautifully all summer may not be giving your skin quite what it needs now.

Fall is a great time to take a look at your routine and make small, intentional adjustments rather than completely starting over.

🍁 A few things to consider:

Add hydration. If your skin is feeling tight or dehydrated, consider incorporating a more hydrating serum, moisturizer, or facial mist into your routine.

Don’t forget your barrier. A healthy skin barrier helps keep moisture in and environmental irritants out. If your skin is feeling more sensitive than usual, it may be time to simplify your routine and focus on supporting your barrier.

Keep exfoliation balanced. Exfoliation can help with dullness and buildup, but more isn’t always better. As the climate changes, your skin may need a different frequency or type of exfoliation.

Keep wearing your SPF. Just because summer is over doesn’t mean sunscreen is! Daily SPF is an important part of your skincare routine year-round, especially when using corrective products or treatments.

Pay attention to what your skin is telling you. Your skin can change with the seasons, stress, hormones, lifestyle, and even your environment. Your routine should be able to change with it.

Your Fall Skincare Check-In 🍂

This is also a great time to reassess your home care and professional treatments. What worked for your skin in July may not be exactly what your skin needs in October.

At WM aesthetics, I believe skincare should be customized to your skin, your goals, and where your skin is right now. Sometimes that means adding hydration, sometimes it means simplifying your routine, and sometimes it means adjusting your professional treatments.

A seasonal change is the perfect reminder to check in with your skin and give it what it needs for the months ahead.

Your skin changes. Your routine can change with it. 🤎
